Principal Application Architect

Remote Full-time Hiring now

Overview: HaloMD Who We Are HaloMD specializes in Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) through The No Surprises Act and state regulations for out-of-network healthcare providers, leveraging advanced technology and deep industry expertise to secure optimized reimbursements. Job Summary We hire only the strongest architects. This role is for those who thrive in high-stakes environments, can context switch rapidly, and consistently deliver at the highest level. As a Principal Application Architect, you will define and enforce enterprise-wide application architecture standards, design distributed and event-driven systems, and shape how modern applications and integrations are built across the organization. You will be expected to work hands-on in code, while also presenting solutions and roadmaps to executives. The ideal candidate is a modern full-stack expert with mastery of Python, orchestration frameworks, and next-gen front-end stacks—while also bringing enough familiarity with legacy systems to guide teams through modernization and integration. Responsibilities:

  • Define and enforce enterprise standards for APIs, orchestration, event-driven systems, and application integrations.
  • Architect scalable, distributed platforms using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and modern front-end frameworks (React/Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS).
  • Establish best practices for orchestration frameworks (Temporal.io, Dagster) and drive enterprise adoption.
  • Provide leadership on modernization initiatives, including refactoring and integrating legacy systems into modern architectures.
  • Serve as the principal authority for enterprise application design and delivery.
  • Mentor engineering teams, setting direction and elevating technical standards across the stack.
  • Partner with product, business, and IT leaders to translate strategic goals into enterprise-ready applications.
  • Deliver executive-level presentations and demos, aligning architecture with business outcomes.
  • Define patterns for secure, observable, and resilient APIs and applications.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Data Ops teams to implement CI/CD, observability, and incident response frameworks.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and establish new best practices for application design.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in application architecture, full-stack engineering, or enterprise solutions, with 3+ years in leadership or consulting roles.
  • Expertise in Python, APIs, SQL, and orchestration tools (Temporal.io, Dagster).
  • Strong full-stack proficiency, including:
  • * React / Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS (front-end)
  • FastAPI and PostgreSQL (back-end & persistence)
  • Experience with distributed, event-driven architectures and modern data pipelines.
  • Ability to work across both modern frameworks and legacy enterprise systems (older SQL/RDBMS, monoliths, traditional integration patterns).
  • Consulting pedigree: proven promotion history, client-facing leadership, and ability to thrive in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence; equally confident in technical reviews and C-suite strategy sessions.
  • Demonstrated success in high-growth environments where adaptability and rapid execution are essential.

What We Offer

  • A top-of-market compensation philosophy, ensuring we attract and retain the best talent.
  • The opportunity to define enterprise architecture standards at scale in a rapidly growing, innovative company.
  • A fast-moving environment where impact is immediate and highly visible at the executive level.
  • Direct ownership of initiatives that will shape the trajectory of the company’s data strategy.
  • The chance to work with bleeding-edge technologies and set standards for enterprise adoption.
