[Remote] Building Automation System Monitoring Technician

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Indoor Environmental Services is hiring a BMS Monitoring Technician to remotely monitor and support multiple building automation systems. The role requires HVAC understanding and strong judgment to identify system issues before they escalate into failures.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize basic computer skills to monitor HVAC controls, analyze data, and generate reports
  • Work with multiple BMS/BAS platforms (Niagara, Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, JCI, etc.)
  • Securely connect to and navigate remote customer sites
  • Assist field technicians with remote troubleshooting of HVAC and controls components
  • Assist customers with BMS adjustments remotely (setpoints, schedules, overrides)
  • Monitor alarms and trends for HVAC equipment: AHUs, RTUs, Boilers, chillers, VAVs, pumps, and associated systems
  • Acknowledge, prioritize, and triage alarms
  • Distinguish nuisance alarms from true faults
  • Identify cause vs symptom
  • Identify faulty components or faulty equipment
  • Escalate issues with clear, actionable documentation
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation
  • Perform approved BAS maintenance tasks remotely (point checks, schedule reviews, alarm maintenance, backups where applicable)
  • Collaborate with team members to implement system upgrades and improvements
  • Collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively
  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and system maintenance activities

Skills

  • Experience with multiple building management / control systems
  • Proven ability to remotely access, navigate, and operate BMS front ends
  • Practical understanding of HVAC fundamentals
  • Experience reviewing trends, histories, and alarms
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgment calls
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills
