Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician will support the pharmacist in ensuring the maintenance of efficient pharmacy operations, customer satisfaction and loyalty, and regulatory compliance. This role will involve remote data entry, utilizing the RX 30 pharmacy computer system, and other essential responsibilities outlined below.

Essential Job Responsibilities

* Basic knowledge of RX 30 pharmacy computer system: Proficiency in using the RX 30 system, including: + Refills + Profiles + Workflow + Courier Manifests + Refill Reports

  • Knowledge of register transactions: Understanding of register transactions, including:

+ Cash + Check + Charge + House charge + Account balances

  • General knowledge of current phone system and office machines: Familiarity with the current phone system and office machines.
  • In-depth knowledge of current HIPPA guidelines: Understanding of HIPPA guidelines and their application in the pharmacy setting.
  • General knowledge of acceptable medical abbreviations: Familiarity with acceptable medical abbreviations.
  • General knowledge of DME available: Understanding of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) available.
  • General knowledge of brand vs. generic drugs: Familiarity with brand vs. generic drugs.
  • Knowledge of information needed to properly complete an intake form: Understanding of the information required to complete an intake form.
  • Knowledge of auto refill system and website refills: Familiarity with the auto refill system and website refills.
  • Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of pill counting machines: Ability to properly use and maintain pill counting machines.
  • Knowledge of "Promise Time", how this works: Understanding of "Promise Time" and its application.
  • Knowledge of proper filing of prescription "hard copies": Familiarity with the proper filing of prescription "hard copies".
  • Daily functions: Perform daily functions, including:

+ Medication sign out + Restocking of medication vials and supplies

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management: Ability to perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

* High School graduate or equivalent: High school graduate or equivalent required.

  • One year Pharmacy Technician experience preferred: One year of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.

Other Requirements

* Be able to pass a FBI/BCI background check: Ability to pass a FBI/BCI background check.

Performance Requirements

* Knowledge of organization services available to customers: Understanding of organization services available to customers.

  • Knowledge of product location within the store to be able to direct customers: Familiarity with product location within the store.
  • Knowledge of phone system, especially calls for refills and new prescriptions: Understanding of the phone system, especially calls for refills and new prescriptions.
  • Knowledge of Rx orders and ability to interpret these orders, verify doses, and be precise: Ability to interpret Rx orders, verify doses, and be precise.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn the proper use of mechanical equipment utilized in this position: Ability to learn the proper use of mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to talk with other healthcare professionals in a professional, businesslike manner: Ability to communicate with other healthcare professionals in a professional, businesslike manner.
  • Abilities: Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner, work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time, adapt to change, and meet continuing education requirements.

Equipment Operated

* Pill counting machines: Ability to operate pill counting machines.

  • Computers: Ability to operate computers.
  • Standard retail machines to include POS system: Ability to operate standard retail machines, including the POS system.
  • Telephones: Ability to operate telephones.
  • Copy machines: Ability to operate copy machines.
  • Fax machines: Ability to operate fax machines.

Work Environment

* Fast-paced, retail pharmacy environment: Work in a fast-paced, retail pharmacy environment.

  • Evening and weekend work: Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Mental/Physical Requirements

* Involves standing and walking 90% of the time: Ability to stand and walk 90% of the time.
