Traveling Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed OT across various rural healthcare settings.
  • Assist with carrying out individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and established OT goals.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions including ADL retraining, functional mobility activities, therapeutic exercises, and use of appropriate modalities (as permitted by state practice acts).
  • Document interventions, patient progress, and responses to treatment accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Educate patients and families on safety, adaptive techniques, home exercises, and strategies to support greater independence.
  • Adapt smoothly to new clinical environments, workflows, and patient populations.
  • Collaborate with OTs and multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, effective care.
  • Monitor patient performance and communicate observations to the OT to help inform ongoing treatment planning.
  • Participate in continued professional development and contribute to a positive, supportive team culture.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (or anticipated graduation).
  • Current COTA license (or eligibility) in at least one state we serve; willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
  • Strong adaptability and comfort working in diverse clinical environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence.
  • Interest in rural healthcare and supporting rehabilitation teams across multiple communities.
  • Willingness to travel and complete short-term assignments.
