We are seeking a Multicultural Communications Specialist focused on Spanish language services to support translation, quality assurance, and volunteer linguist coordination across the organization. The role involves translating, proofreading, reviewing, and ensuring the linguistic and cultural quality of Spanish-language materials. You will also collaborate with Volunteer Services to execute our Multicultural Communications volunteer strategy.

Work Location & Hours This position is entirely remote. The selected candidate can work from anywhere within the United States, preferably aligning with East Coast hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate Spanish-language materials, including operational, programmatic, and communications content.
  • Perform machine translation post-editing (MTPE) to ensure quality standards.
  • Proofread and review Spanish translations for accuracy, tone, consistency, and style adherence.
  • Conduct linguistic quality assurance (LQA) reviews with constructive feedback.
  • Help develop and maintain Spanish style guides, glossaries, and standards.
  • Support basic desktop publishing (DTP) tasks such as layout and formatting verification.
  • Collaborate with the Multicultural Communications Manager to ensure high-quality workflows.
  • Volunteer Management:
  • Evaluate and screen volunteer linguists based on proficiency and skills.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of volunteers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for volunteer development.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship provided.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in translation, linguistics, or language studies).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ related experience or equivalent combined education and experience.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Preferred

  • American Translators Association (ATA) certification — English to Spanish.
  • Experience in volunteer services, recruitment, or management.
  • Understanding of multicultural communication strategies and diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with community engagement and outreach programs.

Skills & Abilities

  • Potential requirement for a government security clearance.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Education and experience are combined to meet the minimum requirements.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. Actual salary will be determined based on location and qualifications during the phone screening. Benefits for You
