Network Engineer Level III, Firewall
Job Description:
- Design and implement advanced network architectures to support organizational goals and scalability.
- Lead the planning and execution of network upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network issues.
- Optimize network performance and scalability through proactive monitoring and adjustments.
- Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and security protocols.
- Manage the lifecycle of network hardware and software, including procurement and upgrades.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and address long-term network requirements.
- Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures for knowledge sharing.
- Mentor and train junior engineers to build team expertise and capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with federal IT security standards, such as FISMA, NIST, and other applicable regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7 years of experience in network engineering or a related IT role.
- Expertise in advanced networking protocols, such as MPLS, BGP, and QoS.
- Proficiency in managing enterprise-level network hardware and software.
- Strong understanding of network security frameworks and tools, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience with cloud networking solutions, such as AWS or Azure.
- Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCP), are highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and improve network performance and reliability.
