Remote VA Experienced Outpatient Coding Auditors (Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available)

Summary

As a result of recent new multi-year VHA contracts awarded, Cooper Thomas, LLC, a leading provider of medical coding, auditing, and training services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), has up to five (5) immediate openings for experienced Outpatient Auditors. Positions available as a 1099/Subcontractor or W-2 with or without benefits. Applicants must have at least 3 years of medical coding auditing experience within the last 5 years. Flexible schedule within the confines of a Monday-Sunday work week. Due to the nature of the work, previous experience with VA is required. You must be able to pass an initial coding entrance exam and must be a US citizen. If you are working for another VA contractor and are having a difficult time being paid on time, our company pays bi-weekly without exception. This is the perfect opportunity for you. Presently we are only interested in candidates who meet the qualifications below and have an active Background Investigation, COI, PIV Card, eToken, and an active VA Contractor’s Citrix Access Account or an active Moonlighter Account. Qualifications · Must be able to perform the full scope of multi-specialty OP clinic, ED, minor procedures, radiology, rehabilitation, and lab encounters utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. · At least three (3) years of VA or other relevant coding experience, with another Government contractor supporting VA or as a VA employee · At least three (3) years of VA or other relevant auditing experience, with another Government contractor supporting VA or as a VA employee · Thorough working knowledge of VHA coding guidelines · Ability to follow site-specific coding guidelines · Familiar with E/M leveling for OP and ED visits using current coding guidelines · Familiar with E/M calculator and ability to use this tool proficiently · Familiar with 3M Encoder for ICD10 and CPT coding · Knowledge in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathology and disease processes, pharmacology, health record format and content, reimbursement methodologies and conventions, rules and guidelines for current classification systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS). · Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing · Must be able to work as part of a project team environment Accepted Coding Credentials American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) · Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) / Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) · Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) / Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) · Certified Professional Coder (CPC) · Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) · Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) Minimum Education · High School Diploma or equivalent Cooper Thomas, LLC is a leading provider of health information management services.
