[Remote] Director, Executive Benefits (Higher Education)

ALM First is a leading strategic partner for depository institutions, and they are seeking a Director of Executive Benefits to expand their services into the higher education market. This role focuses on building relationships with universities and colleges to introduce executive benefits solutions, while developing strategies for leadership retention and succession planning.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and grow ALM First’s executive benefits presence in the higher education sector
  • Introduce and consult on executive benefit solutions, including 457(f) plans, split-dollar arrangements, and other executive compensation and retention strategies that support leadership recruitment, retention, and succession planning
  • Leverage industry relationships and networks to open doors and create new opportunities
  • Build relationships with university presidents, CFOs, HR leaders, and governing boards
  • Consult on executive benefit strategies designed to attract and retain senior leadership
  • Develop new opportunities through outreach, industry engagement, and networking
  • Represent ALM First at conferences, industry gatherings, and leadership forums
  • Partner with internal specialists who support case design, technical analysis, and implementation, allowing you to focus on relationship development and business growth

Skills

  • Experience in consultative B2B sales or advisory roles working with senior leadership or governing boards
  • A strong track record of developing new business through strategic relationship building and industry connections
  • Success in selling, advising on, or supporting executive benefits programs, including 457(f) plans, split-dollar arrangements, and other executive compensation strategies
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel for conferences and client meetings (approximately 30 - 50%)
  • A natural relationship builder who enjoys connecting with senior leaders and developing long-term partnerships
  • Well-networked within higher education or adjacent industries, with relationships you can leverage to open conversations and build trust
  • Entrepreneurial and energized by building a new market presence from the ground up
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with an experienced internal team
  • Professional, personable, and capable of delivering a high-touch client experience
  • Confident presenting and engaging with executive leadership teams and governing boards
  • Motivated by growth and the opportunity to create and expand a new business line
  • Experience in higher education, financial services, consulting, or executive compensation is helpful but not required
