As a remote opportunity based in New York, this role offers a unique chance to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the success of a critical program serving children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. About the OPWDD CANS Project The Office of People with Developmental Disabilities-Children and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment Services (OPWDD CANS) project is a vital initiative that conducts conflict-free assessments of children and youth aged 6-17 who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Maximus Assessors utilize the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) comprehensive assessment tool to identify the strengths, interests, and needs of these individuals, providing crucial information for Care Coordination Organizations (CCO) to develop person-centered care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to obtain pertinent consumer information and identify parties to receive notification of impending assessment appointments.
  • Perform timely outreach and meet productivity targets related to scheduling assessment appointments with all appropriate individuals identified, documenting all outreach activities for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Assist in coordinating last-minute scheduling changes to ensure assessment appointments are completed and quickly communicate updates to relevant parties.
  • Provide administrative support to the Operations Support Management staff, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure consumer needs are met when scheduling assessment appointments and that the most suitable resource is assigned to complete the assessment.
  • Maintain an efficient scheduling process and workflow, meeting all program objectives and identifying areas for improvement or correction.
  • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders, including individuals, families, and CCO agencies, providing education about the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment (CANS).
  • Adhere to all work instructions, policies, and procedures related to the project.
  • Meet performance standards established for this position, as outlined in the corresponding annual performance criteria and bonus template.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent, combined with 0-2 years of experience in a customer service environment.
  • 1-3 years of experience in community outreach or conducting one-on-one presentations.
  • Previous experience working or interacting with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, executing multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • The capacity to work independently and as a team member.
  • The ability to learn new software programs quickly and intuitively.

Preferred Skills While not mandatory, the following skills and qualifications are highly desirable:

  • An Associate's Degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a customer service environment.
  • Experience with MAXEB, Choices, and OPWDD Services.
  • Experience multitasking across multiple systems.

Home Office Requirements As a remote employee, you will need to ensure your home office meets the following requirements:

  • Maximus will provide company-issued computer equipment.
  • Reliable high-speed internet service with minimum 20 Mbps download speeds (50 Mbps for shared internet connectivity) and minimum 5 Mbps upload speeds.
