Our client, a prestigious institution of higher learning, is seeking a creative and experienced Remote Instructional Designer to spearhead the development of engaging and effective online courses. This fully remote position allows you to shape the future of digital education from your home office. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and faculty to translate traditional curriculum into innovative, learner-centered online experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and various e-learning technologies. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop engaging online courses and learning materials using sound pedagogical principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM). Collaborate with faculty and SMEs to define learning objectives, outline course content, and select appropriate instructional strategies. Create multimedia content, including videos, interactive simulations, quizzes, and assessments. Utilize learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle to build and manage online courses. Ensure all online courses are accessible and adhere to WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Evaluate the effectiveness of online courses through student feedback and learning analytics, and make necessary revisions. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in online education and instructional design. Manage multiple course development projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and quality standards. Provide training and support to faculty on online teaching best practices and the use of instructional technologies. Contribute to the development of institutional standards and best practices for online learning. Facilitate virtual workshops and training sessions for faculty and staff. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design, with a focus on higher education online learning. Proven ability to design and develop high-quality, interactive online courses. Proficiency with various authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate) and multimedia software. Strong understanding of adult learning theories and pedagogical best practices for online environments. Experience with learning management systems (LMS). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration with SMEs and faculty. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated commitment to accessibility in online learning. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain productivity in a remote setting. A dedicated, quiet home office space with reliable high-speed internet is required.
