Government & Public Sector Sales Director

Remote Full-time Hiring now

We have the capabilities, the track record, and the appetite to do great work for government — now we're building the practice that brings it to them. We're looking for one person to own our state and local government business end to end: finish standing up our government-readiness, build the pipeline, run the procurement process, and close. If you know how state, county, city, and education agencies actually buy, this is a rare chance to build something from the ground up and own the results. ABOUT WVE LABS Wve Labs is an AI-powered app and product development agency. We build modern digital products — web and mobile applications, custom software, and AI-driven tools — for organizations that want to move fast and modernize. We're now bringing that capability to the public sector, helping state and local government and education agencies deliver better digital experiences to the people they serve. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Twelve months in, Wve Labs is fully government-ready and winning. You'll have closed the gaps in our registrations, certifications, and vendor credentials; built a qualified pipeline of state, local, and education opportunities nationwide; and run our first pursuits through to award. You own the number and the process behind it — from identifying the right agencies through proposal, negotiation, and signed contract. WHAT YOU'LL OWN - Finishing our government-readiness — registrations (SAM.gov and state/local procurement portals), small-business certifications, and the capture and proposal infrastructure we need to compete - The full SLED sales cycle nationwide — identifying, soliciting, nurturing, and procuring state, county, municipal, and education projects - The intensive pre-engagement and capture process — building relationships with agency decision-makers, qualifying opportunities, and positioning Wve Labs to win before an RFP ever drops - Proposal and bid response — owning or quarterbacking responses to RFPs, RFQs, and solicitations, partnering with our delivery team on technical approach - Pipeline development and forecasting — building a repeatable, predictable government pipeline from the ground up - Long-term agency relationships — nurturing accounts into repeat and expanded work WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required: - A proven track record selling into state, local, and/or education government (SLED) — and closing - Deep familiarity with public-sector procurement: RFPs, RFQs, sole-source, cooperative purchasing, and how agencies actually buy - Experience owning the full pre-RFP capture process — building agency relationships and positioning to win early - Comfort building a government practice from an early stage, not just working an established one - Willingness to travel roughly 25–40% for agency meetings, industry days, and conferences Preferred: - Experience with government registrations and certifications (SAM.gov, state portals, SB/DVBE/MBE/WBE/8(a) and similar) - A network of relationships across state, county, municipal, or education agencies - Experience selling technology, software, or digital services to the public sector - Familiarity with capture/proposal frameworks such as Shipley, or APMP certification COMPENSATION $150,000–$200,000 base salary, plus a win-based incentive tied to contracts awarded. On-target earnings of approximately $220,000–$300,000 for a strong performer. This is a remote role with regular travel (approximately 25–40%). Pay: From $150,000.00 per year Benefits:

  • 401(k)
  • Flexible schedule
  • Flexible spending account
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement plan
