Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sargent & Lundy is a trusted leader in nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, specializing in clean, carbon-free energy solutions. They are seeking a Senior Special Structural Analysis Engineer to collaborate with a team on engineering projects for nuclear facilities, applying expertise in structural analysis and design while guiding less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of structural engineers, interface with engineers from other disciplines, and guide the work of less experienced project team members
  • Work with a structural engineering team on engineering projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants
  • Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support designers with drawing development
  • Perform the structural analysis of safety-related structures under various loading conditions, such as seismic loading, impactive/impulsive loading
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs

Skills

  • MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Five or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA
  • Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ph.D. degree
  • Experience with design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures
  • On site construction support experience
  • PE or SE license
  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
