[Remote] Consultant, Product Architect (P&C Data)

They are seeking a Product Architect to join their Personal Lines Architecture team, responsible for defining and evolving the data ecosystem that supports their Personal Lines portfolio. The role emphasizes data architecture, technical integrity, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure effective data governance and utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve data architecture, source-of-truth definitions, and data flows across modern data lakehouse platforms and legacy environments
  • Establish scalable data pipelines, integration patterns, and consumption models for reporting, analytics, and operational use cases
  • Ensure high standards for data quality, performance, security, and governance
  • Develop and drive strategic data roadmaps, including:
  • Expansion of data lakehouse (Databricks-based) capabilities
  • Rationalization and retirement of legacy data platforms
  • Identify and mitigate technology risks, ensuring long-term sustainability and scalability
  • Partner with Actuarial, Pricing, Underwriting, Product, and Analytics teams to align data capabilities with business outcomes
  • Enable seamless cross-domain integration with Enterprise Data & Analytics and shared services
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for business and technology leaders
  • Lead adoption of cloud data platforms, event streaming, and real-time data patterns
  • Promote best practices in data governance, lineage, security, and observability
  • Influence continuous improvement through thought leadership and innovation
  • Develop and maintain systems architecture for a product domain, business function or the technology portfolio. Ensuring that the product meets functional and non-functional requirements
  • Key contributor on strategies, blueprints and roadmaps for a given product/application/technology area focused on technical directions like Cloud First. Ensure product/application roadmaps are aligned with solution and enterprise roadmaps with the correct guard rails
  • Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities
  • Identifies technology risk, technical currency and technical debt related to applications when planning for new solutions, technology upgrades and maintenance of product/application platforms
  • Crafts moderate to sophisticated build patterns, accelerators, building codes standard and carrying out compliance with architecture standards
  • Drives technical quality by conducting or participating in architecture, design and code reviews, capacity planning, modeling and testing
  • Runs the vitality of technical talent in area of responsibility and provides feedback, suggestions to other people leaders on technical talent
  • Assists in mentoring lines involved in a product/application development when unfamiliar, new technologies or techniques are introduced

Skills

  • Strong product and data architecture experience, including data modeling (analytical vs. operational), integration patterns and pipelines, data lineage and governance
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and modern data lakehouse/OLAP architectures
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL
  • Experience with AWS/Cloud based services, data integration, data security and data privacy
  • Experience with integration tools such as Informatica PowerCenter
  • Familiarity with APIs and services (Apigee, Spring Boot)
  • Knowledge of event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex architectures
  • Demonstrated success delivering in fast-paced, agile environments
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, drive alignment, and lead through change
  • Experience developing roadmaps and balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategy
  • Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience: Eight to ten years of experience in a Technology domain. Shown skill in multiple architectural domains and various technologies. Awareness of emerging technologies. Experience with cloud technologies is preferred
  • Experience with Property & Casualty insurance, particularly Personal Lines
  • Exposure to Guidewire (PolicyCenter, PricingCenter) or similar policy administration and rating platforms
