[Remote] Software engineer

They are seeking a Software Engineer responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions while collaborating across functions and supporting colleagues in applying and developing complex software.
Responsibilities
- Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors moderately complex programs/scripts
- Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result
- Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate
- Applies data analysis, design, and modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain a data structure and its associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions
- Develops and maintains specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles, architectures, software and facilities
- Assesses proposed changes to object/data structures, to evaluate alternative options
- Implements physical database designs to support transactional data requirements for performance and availability
- Implements data warehouse designs that support demands for business intelligence and data analytics
- Implements stakeholder engagement/communications plan
- Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information
- Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure the effectiveness of stakeholder management
- Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships
- Undertakes complete design of moderately complex software applications or components applying agreed standards, patterns and tools
- Assists as part of a team in the design of components of larger software systems
- Specifies user and/or system interfaces
- Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders of the design and to handle separately functional and non-functional requirements
- Assists in the evaluation of options and trade-offs
- Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate
- Carryout any other reasonable duties as requested
Skills
- Proven relevant experience in systems integration and implementation, software development, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
- Understanding of common system architecture frameworks and concepts
- Technical awareness of Security and Application Software Development
- Experience in the same or very similar role
- Experience of working in Frameworks
- A demonstrable strong background in Core Java, J2EE and the SLDC lifecycle
- Basic knowledge of Struts 2.0, Spring MVC, and Oracle (PLSQL)
- Basic knowledge of KSVN, Merge tools, and IDE tools like IntelliJ, and Eclipse
- Experience working in and knowledge of the life sciences sector
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Maths, Science, Engineering, Computing, etc.) or a related study, or equivalent project-related experience
- English: Fluent

- Maintains an up-to-date awareness of trends, tools, technology, techniques and processes that affect testing and technology within the Life sciences domain
