The University of Southern California is dedicated to preparing leaders for educational equity through innovative practices and research. They are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to provide instructional support for a course on Content and Pedagogy for Teaching Probability, Data Analysis, & Statistics, focusing on mathematics content and pedagogy for teacher candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide course instruction through online platforms, including Zoom and the Learning Management System
  • Guide candidates in analyzing student thinking, identifying misconceptions, and designing responsive instruction focused on data displays, variability, likelihood, inference, and interpreting quantitative information across grade levels
  • Maintain regular communication with candidates, evaluate assignments, provide meaningful written feedback, assign grades in the LMS, and contribute to course and program improvement through participation in faculty and advisory board meetings

Skills

  • A minimum of five years of full-time experience as a P–12 mathematics teacher in a diverse school setting
  • Experience in teacher education or leadership related to mathematics teaching and learning
  • Candidates must hold a California Clear Credential in Foundational or Single Subject Mathematics with English Learner Authorization, or equivalent
  • Graduate-level online teaching experience
  • A PhD, EdD, or equivalent degree in an education-related field
  • Current knowledge of California adopted P–12 mathematics content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Strong professional practice in teaching, learning, scholarship, and service
  • Skill in supporting candidates' planning, diagnosis of mathematics difficulties, and development of instructional responses
  • Experience teaching through Zoom and a Learning Management System
