[Remote] Principal/Staff Engineer - Grocery Marketplace

Remote Full-time Hiring now

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Andiamo is an innovative technology company transforming how large-scale retail and grocery organizations manage inventory and operational workflows. They are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design scalable systems and solve complex operational challenges within enterprise retail environments, while collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build & Own Core Partner Systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade backend services and partner integrations that support critical retail workflows and operational systems
  • Architect and deliver scalable applications using modern backend technologies including Node.js and TypeScript, while contributing to frontend partner tooling where appropriate
  • Lead development of APIs, ingestion pipelines, operational services, and partner-facing functionality that support high-volume retail environments
  • Own the reliability and long-term health of the systems you build, including monitoring, incident response, observability, scalability, and operational excellence
  • Drive technical architecture decisions across distributed systems, service boundaries, integration strategies, data models, and platform reliability
  • Reduce complexity across the platform by identifying technical debt, improving maintainability, and establishing scalable engineering patterns
  • Champion engineering best practices across testing, API design, deployment strategies, observability, and TypeScript standards
  • Balance business priorities with long-term platform sustainability while helping teams make pragmatic technical decisions
  • Work directly with retail partners, operational stakeholders, and enterprise account teams to understand integration requirements, operational processes, and technical constraints
  • Translate business and operational needs into scalable software solutions that fit naturally into complex retail technology ecosystems
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Data, Operations, and Business Leadership to influence roadmap decisions and proactively identify engineering risks
  • Help bridge the gap between technical implementation and real-world retail operations
  • Mentor engineers through technical reviews, architecture discussions, collaborative design sessions, and engineering best practices
  • Influence technical direction across teams through strong communication, thoughtful decision-making, and engineering credibility
  • Lead through expertise, ownership, and strategic thinking rather than formal people management
  • Promote a culture of craftsmanship, operational accountability, and continuous improvement

Skills

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with recent hands-on backend or full-stack development work
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript and JavaScript across modern application architectures
  • Extensive experience building and operating scalable Node.js production systems
  • Strong experience designing enterprise software, B2B platforms, APIs, and external system integrations
  • Direct experience working within grocery, retail, or retail technology organizations
  • Strong understanding of retail operational systems including inventory management, pricing systems, store workflows, and enterprise integrations
  • Experience building software that integrates with complex retail environments and operational constraints
  • Strong data and analytics mindset with experience instrumenting systems and measuring platform performance
  • Comfort interacting directly with enterprise customers, operational teams, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, deployment automation, observability, and production reliability
  • Experience designing scalable relational and NoSQL database models
  • Experience with React or Next.js for internal operational tooling or partner-facing applications
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and LLM-enabled development tooling
  • Experience integrating AI or agent-based capabilities into production systems
  • Exposure to event-driven systems, Kafka, Airflow, Temporal, or GraphQL
  • Experience leading large-scale cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Prior involvement in organization-wide engineering strategy and platform evolution

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package including salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits
  • Fully remote work environment built on flexibility, autonomy, and trust
  • Mission-oriented work focused on sustainability and reducing operational waste
  • Fast-paced, collaborative engineering culture with strong growth potential
