[Remote] Accountant - Capital Assets
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Accountant to manage capital assets for the Health System and its support organizations. The role involves analyzing capital assets, reviewing finances of capital projects, and serving as a resource for project-related inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Recognition of asset disposals is completed timely and according to internal policy, which requires signed documentation to support the disposal. Must be able to correctly determine type of disposal such as gain, loss or scrap. Assure that asset transfers within MUSC are recorded properly. This includes coordination among departments and markets, including signed documentation and compilation of other relevant information to properly record in the general ledger and subledger
- Maintain regular communication with division managers and departments to comply with MUHA policy on capitalizing assets and projects. Includes review of projects in the planning stage so formal review can be budgeted in the correct account. Must also interact with project managers in Construction and Design and other regions. Serve as resource to the organization to review and answer questions about pending projects
- Summarize and organize workpapers on a consolidated basis as well as by market and/or facility, if necessary. Support and tick mark balances and the transaction detail level with appropriate documentation. Assist with the year-end audit. Submit workpapers within a timeline and work with the external auditors to provide additional support as needed. This includes assistance with compiling footnotes and coordination with other general ledger team members in analysis of account balances
Skills
- A bachelor's degree in a business-related field
- Three (3) years work experience in a business-related field such as accounting, business, audit or finance

- A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Outlook software
- A bachelor's degree in accounting
- Hospital/healthcare based work experience
