[Remote] Software Engineer II - App Core (Remote Eligible)

They are seeking a Software Engineer II to contribute to the core infrastructure, focusing on reliability and stability while collaborating in a mob programming environment. Responsibilities

• Help build and maintain the core infrastructure that serves as the backbone for Smartsheet
• Work closely with the team every day in a real-time development environment
• Dive deep into system internals
• Use Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure our foundational systems are resilient before they ever touch production
• Share responsibility for operational health of our systems as part of a supportive on-call rotation

Skills

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language with backend development experience
• A strong desire to learn Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and an eagerness to understand database internals and reliability (MySQL)
• A genuine interest in team-centric engineering practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent capability)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis
• Go experience is a plus but not required
• Java or Python backgrounds translate well
• Comfortable (or eager to become comfortable) working in a mob programming environment
• Critical thinker who enjoys troubleshooting complex technical problems
