[Remote] Business Development Director - Mid-sized global CRO - California
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. RBW Consulting is seeking a Business Development Director for a global full service clinical Contract Research Organization. The role focuses on securing new business and managing accounts within pharma, biotechnology, and medical device companies across California and the Western US, leveraging a strong network and sales track record.
Responsibilities
- Achieving agreed upon sales and business development targets, creating and implementing appropriate business development strategies for identified target markets
- Prospecting with the goal of establishing a pipeline of sales opportunities and RFP’s from potential clients; suitably qualified for competitive advantage, timing, budget, decision maker
- Establishing relationships with potential CRO partners that can result in RFP’s that require a collaborative approach that emphasizes the strengths of each individual organization towards winning new business
- Meeting with potential clients on a regular basis
- Utilizing Salesforce to keep track of client activities including meetings and entering opportunities and updates as required to inform Management of current status
- Leading and managing the sales process for leads generated and leads received from internal and external sources
- Leading the proposals development process for all opportunities and the assigned team to ensure that the strategy, budget and proposal language and timelines matches the expectations of the client as identified through extensive interactions with these clients
- Continually redefining appropriate and profitable market niches for business opportunities, based on evidence
- Providing input to the Marketing team so that they can create and implement appropriate marketing strategies that support the business development process and team
- Providing input to business development leadership based on territory and industry knowledge to develop sales targets, sales strategies and sales plans
- Working with the team to define and implement strategies to support the sales process, including securing resources to perform pre-sales activities
- Engaging with agents and consultants in other geographic locations to support business development activities in those markets
- Engaging with internal research staff to maximise selling opportunities associated with existing travel schedules of those staff
- Identifying and attending appropriate conferences and trade shows to create business opportunities
Skills
- Strong network and sales track record in California/Western US region
- Experience selling full service CRO solutions
- Ability to achieve sales and business development targets
- Experience in creating and implementing business development strategies
- Ability to prospect and establish a pipeline of sales opportunities and RFPs
- Experience in establishing relationships with potential CRO partners
- Ability to meet with potential clients regularly
- Experience utilizing Salesforce for client activity tracking
