Why This Role Matters

Benefits are more than just a paycheck addition—they are a vital component of an employee’s overall well‑being. As a Remote Benefits Customer Service Representative at arenaflex, you will be the trusted point of contact for members navigating health, welfare, and pension plans. Your ability to translate complex policy language into clear, actionable guidance directly impacts members’ satisfaction, retention, and confidence in their employer’s benefits offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build immediate rapport with members through phone, email, and instant messaging, delivering compassionate and accurate assistance that exceeds expectations.
  • Adapt communication style to match each member’s personality and preferred channel while maintaining professionalism, especially during high‑stress or escalated interactions.
  • Safeguard confidential member information in strict accordance with HIPAA, data privacy regulations, and arenaflex’s internal security protocols.
  • Interpret and simplify health, welfare, and pension plan terminology, turning intricate policy details into easy‑to‑understand explanations and actionable next steps.
  • Navigate arenaflex’s knowledge‑base tools and client plan documents to quickly identify member needs, resolve inquiries, and anticipate future support requirements.
  • Document all interactions accurately in the CRM system, ensuring a complete audit trail and facilitating seamless handoffs to other team members when necessary.
  • Participate in on‑site orientation at arenaflex’s San Diego hub (within a 2‑hour radius of ZIP 92108) on the first day, and attend periodic in‑person meetings or project workshops as required.
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements, knowledge‑base enhancements, and training modules that elevate the overall member experience.

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; additional education or certifications in customer service, health administration, or related fields are a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in a call‑center, customer service, or member support environment. Prior exposure to benefits administration is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Fluent English communication skills; bilingual proficiency in Spanish or French is highly valued and rewarded with an additional $0.75 per hour.
  • Strong listening abilities, empathy, and the capacity to remain calm and solution‑focused during challenging conversations.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and comfort navigating web‑based CRM or ticketing platforms.
  • Reliable high‑speed internet connection, a quiet workspace, and a headset that meets arenaflex’s quality standards for remote work.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, data privacy best practices, and general compliance requirements for benefits information.
  • Ability to quickly learn and master arenaflex’s proprietary benefits platforms, online portals, and self‑service tools.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, enabling clear and concise email responses and chat interactions.
  • Time‑management expertise, allowing you to juggle multiple member inquiries while meeting service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Problem‑solving mindset: proactively identify root causes, suggest corrective actions, and follow through to resolution.
  • Team orientation: collaborate effectively with peers, supervisors, and cross‑functional partners to deliver a unified member experience.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

arenaflex offers a competitive hourly wage starting at $17 per hour, with additional compensation for bilingual candidates. You will have the opportunity to earn overtime pay, and performance‑based incentives are available for team members who consistently exceed service targets. Beyond base pay, arenaflex provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with flexible spending accounts.
  • Retirement savings options, including a 401(k) plan with company matching.
