As the Director of Consumer Data Collection and Activation, you will lead the strategic vision and execution of data-driven engagement initiatives that power some of the world's most recognizable consumer brands.

This is an individual contributor role with significant influence, accountable for designing, implementing, and optimizing first-party data (1PD) collection and activation strategies across the digital ecosystem. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Brand Marketing, Media Operations, Marketing Technology, and external agency partners to enhance customer engagement, accelerate adoption, and deepen brand loyalty across web, mobile, email, social, and emerging digital channels.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Data Collection and Management

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for collecting, managing, and activating first-party consumer data across the entire digital ecosystem.
  • Design and optimize data collection frameworks, including website cookies, customer registrations, surveys, interactive tools, and other online engagements, to capture meaningful consumer insights.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for data enrichment through ethical third-party sources to enhance consumer profiles, segmentation, and personalization capabilities.
  • Build and maintain a robust data governance framework that ensures accuracy, consistency, and usability of consumer data across all touchpoints.

Personalized Customer Journey Design

  • Define and implement end-to-end personalized customer journeys across digital ecosystems, ensuring brand consistency, relevance, and emotional resonance at every stage.
  • Lead the planning and execution of integrated digital CRM campaigns that drive engagement, retention, and lifetime customer value.
  • Develop data-driven content strategies tailored to diverse consumer segments, leveraging behavioral, demographic, and psychographic insights.
  • Partner with creative and content teams to translate data insights into compelling brand experiences that build lasting consumer relationships.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Alignment

  • Work closely with brand, media, marketing technology, and analytics teams to align first-party data collection and activation strategies with overarching business objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages data sharing, knowledge exchange, and cross-functional innovation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating complex data capabilities into clear business opportunities and recommendations.
  • Partner with legal, privacy, and compliance teams to ensure all data collection practices adhere to global privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable standards.

Privacy, Compliance, and Consent Management

  • Implement robust consent management processes to obtain explicit, informed permission from consumers for data collection and activation.
  • Champion consumer privacy as a competitive advantage, embedding privacy-by-design principles into all data strategies and platform decisions.
  • Stay current on evolving privacy regulations, industry standards, and consumer expectations to proactively adapt data practices.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of data flows, consent records, and compliance audits.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8–12 years of proven experience in a Digital Consumer Engagement, CRM, or related leadership role, preferably within a consumer brand, agency, or marketing technology environment.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and executing first-party data strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics, customer segmentation, targeting methodologies, and personalization frameworks.
  • Proficiency in marketing automation and CRM platforms such as Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Journey Analyzer, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar enterprise tools.
  • Experience working with global brands and navigating complex, matrixed organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale digital transformation initiatives involving data, technology, and organizational change.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, machine learning applications in marketing, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Track record of thought leadership in consumer data strategy, privacy, or digital engagement.
  • International experience and the ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones.
