[Remote] Electrical Design Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. COIL is a nationwide leader in turn-key electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, focused on supporting ambitious zero-emission goals across the United States. The Electrical Design Engineer role involves designing and developing electrical systems for EV charging infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with codes and collaborating with various teams to deliver effective designs.

Responsibilities

  • Create and review electrical drawings, one-lines, and schematics, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements
  • Perform load calculations, power distribution studies, and site evaluations to support optimal placement and sizing of EV charging equipment
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, field installers, product teams, and external partners to translate client requirements into practical, cost-effective designs
  • Prepare technical documentation, support permitting and inspections, review submittals, and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and best practices within COIL’s Unified Platform

Skills

  • Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with applied knowledge of Electricity and power systems
  • Proficiency in Electrical Design and Design Engineering for infrastructure or building systems
  • Experience with Power Distribution design, including panel schedules, load calculations, and circuiting
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, local AHJ requirements) and permitting processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; advanced degree or EIT/PE licensure is a plus
  • Experience with EV charging, renewable energy, or related electrical infrastructure is highly beneficial
  • Ability to use CAD or electrical design software and collaborate effectively with remote, cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills, with attention to accuracy and safety
