Arxada has an exciting opportunity for a Toxicologist to join our Toxicology and Environmental Sciences team. The role can be based in Manchester (UK) or Barcelona (Spain) or possibly at our offices in Delft (NL), Hannover (DE), or Warsaw (PL). For an experienced candidate, we would additionally consider a virtual office set-up. This is a highly visible role in our Toxicology and Environmental Sciences team, combining scientific expertise, project coordination, and strategic influence in a fast-paced matrix organization. Acting as both a thought partner and a hands-on contributor, the Toxicologist will work at the interface of technical, regulatory, commercial, and product teams, while also engaging with external stakeholders such as regulatory authorities, consultants, and industry associations. The Toxicologist delivers business results by ensuring that the products developed and marketed by Arxada meet internal standards as well as relevant regulatory requirements in terms of human and environmental safety. The Toxicologist brings curiosity, drive, and strong technical insight to their projects, guiding regulatory colleagues and business partners, identifying data gaps early, shaping product strategies, and responding confidently to regulatory risk assessment requests. Essential Job Functions: Provide scientific leadership on human health exposure and risk assessment topics across the Arxada portfolio, supporting regulatory strategies under BPR, FIFRA, TSCA, REACH and other relevant frameworks. Design, interpret and monitor toxicology and exposure-related studies, including threshold setting, exposure monitoring, dermal absorption and related risk assessment endpoints. Scope, author and present scientifically robust risk assessments that clearly articulate Arxada’s positions and can be confidently supported in discussions with regulatory authorities. Identify data gaps early and develop practical recommendations for regulatory teams and business stakeholders on the need for additional information, testing or assessment. Collaborate across a fast-paced matrix organization, partnering with other team members as well asregulatory, commercial, product stewardship and other technical teams to support business-relevant decision making. Represent Arxada’s scientific positions in interactions with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, consultants and industry associations, while building a strong professional network across the regulatory science community. Contribute flexibly to broader Toxicology and Environmental Sciences team priorities, which may include study management, dossier preparation, classification support and other cross-functional projects. Qualifications & Experience: Post graduate qualification and 3+ years industrial experience or degree level and 5+ years industrial experience with at least 3+ years in risk assessment for biocides or chemicals. Degree in Toxicology or related natural sciences. Strong mathematical/quantitative reasoning skills. Training in statistics and experience programming equations in Excel are an advantage. Training or work experience in toxicology, chemistry, and/or exposure assessment. Team player with ‘can do’-mentality; a strong communicator, who is flexible and self-starting with proven project management and project co-ordination skills.
