Authorization Specialist • *$1,000 sign-on bonus available for eligible applicants Job Summary: Obtains authorizations for surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, medications, outgoing referrals, and other services as part of daily operations. Determines the authorization protocols for each health plan and performs billing duties to ensure proper and timely payment is received from insurance carriers and patients. Education - Required: • Associate's Degree or • High School Diploma/GED with specialized training in insurance, coding, billing, or similar healthcare certificate programs. Experience - Required: • 3 years in a healthcare setting with insurance verification/authorizations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Required: • Familiarity with billing procedures and payer reimbursement. • Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA. • Proficient in utilization management processes, standards, and managed care. • Proficient in standard medical practices and insurance benefit structures. Pre-Certification Nurse • *Eligible applicants may receive up to a $2,500 sign-on bonus Job Summary: Screens inpatient and ambulatory reservations to ensure that insurance approval has been obtained and the patient is scheduled for the appropriate level of care. Calls physician offices to verify/obtain additional clinical information and insurance authorizations/referrals. Obtains insurance verification and precertification for approval. Education - Required: • Bachelor's Degree in nursing Experience - Required: • 5 years of experience in pre-certification and utilization management review. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Required: • Must be adept at using various computerized insurance verification systems. • Must be knowledgeable in health insurance requirement. • Must have good assessment skills to make appropriate referrals. • Must be self-directed and able to prioritize duties within a rapidly changing environment. • Must be knowledgeable in health insurance requirements.
