Patient Care Technician P10 Surgical Oncology Night Shift
MD Anderson's nursing community transforms nursing care through clinical practice, education and research. Each day, more than 4,400 registered nurses deliver compassionate, evidence-based cancer care to patients and their families. We focus exclusively on cancer and have seen cases of every kind. The GI Surgical Oncology Unit is a 32-bed, post-operative, medical-surgical unit serving patient from 18-80 years old. Surgeries may include but are not limited to the following: whippple, colon resections, liver resections and small bowel resection. Function Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. Scope Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. Essential Job Functions Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team. Other duties as assigned. Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Preferred one year of patient care experience. Licensure/Certification Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
