One position may be tenure-track (Assistant Professor) and one or both positions may be non-tenure-track (Clinical Assistant Professor), depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidates.These 10-month faculty positions require delivery of on-campus, hybrid, and online instruction in the Health Sciences Program, maintaining program evaluation, mentoring students, and other duties needed to support program function. The Bachelor of Science in Health Science program is one of the largest programs at Indiana University South Bend. Students complete a concentration in one of the following: Health Promotion, Rehabilitation Science, Speech-Language Pathology, and Sport and Exercise Science. Additionally, students can obtain minors in Health Promotion, Nutrition, Palliative and Supportive Care, and Sport and Exercise Science.Faculty in the Division of Health Sciences are responsible for teaching core classes to all students and courses within a specific concentration area. We are seeking candidates with teaching and service experience in public health fields to teach and mentor students in the Health Promotion concentration and build community partnerships in public health. The successful candidate for the tenure-track line must also have an established scholarship program.One of the two positions is expected to serve as the Program Director. The Program Director will oversee the program's daily academic and student-centered operations, including course scheduling, faculty mentoring and recruitment, curriculum management, and student engagement. This role will collaborate closely with other administrators in the Dwyer School of Health Sciences to provide both inspirational and practical leadership. The Program Director role may be considered for a 12-month administrative contract based on program needs and interest of the appropriate candidate. Basic QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • A degree in public/community health or a related field (PhD, EdD, DrPH, MD/DO, or equivalent). For the tenure track line an earned doctorate is required, though ABD applicants will be considered with evidence of degree completion by December 2025. For the non-tenure-track line, a Masters degree is required.
  • Have experience with teaching, research, or service in a health-related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • For the non-tenure-track line, a doctoral degree in public/community health or a related field is preferred.
  • Candidates are preferred to possess the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) qualification (or CHES® eligible), or other public health-related certifications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-impact teaching practices such as community engagement, internships, first-year seminars and experiences.
  • Experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Active engagement with the academic and professional community.
