Position Title: Professional Development Manager - Law firm (100% Remote working)  Contract: Full-time, Independent Contractor   Location:  100% remote working (aligned to US/ET) Salary: Salary is competitive – varies based on country and level of experience    Description:  A well-established and growing international law firm is looking for a Professional Development Manager to support our growing team.     Our Firm:  Sterlington was founded by a former BigLaw partner to provide high-quality legal services while working 100% remotely. Learn more at: www.sterlingtonlaw.com.   We are seeking a dynamic person with a passion for entrepreneurship and sophisticated work to join our cutting-edge, tech-savvy law firm and immerse yourself in a forward-thinking environment that encourages innovation.     The Role:  The Professional Development Manager will collaborate with partners and senior professional stakeholders on the continued legal education (CLE) of all fee-earners across the business. The Manager will also be responsible for acting as the relationship & development manager for the firm’s associate cohort. You will ensure the associate cohort has a point of contact to discuss and escalate non-technical working matters and assist with associate work allocation and utilization. You will work closely with colleagues across the firm in planning and monitoring the firm’s strategic workforce planning and performance review processes.   Responsibilities:   • Monitor associates’ availability, utilization and professional development. • Create reports for Partner team to assist with staffing and utilization schedules. • Logging and overseeing associates’ CLE to maximize the variety of work, exposure to different partners ensuring their development of new, core skills. • Implementing a performance evaluation process for associates. • Tracking and facilitating the realization of Professional Development Priorities identified during review processes. • Working with practice leaders to identify training needs and skill gaps across the fee-earner teams and organizing appropriate training programs to address those needs. • Collaborating with HR colleagues to design and roll-out a new associate onboarding and orientation program. QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:   • Minimum 5 years of experience collaborating with partners and senior professional services stakeholders within a law firm environment; applicants may have previously worked within a campus recruitment & development role. • Experience working with US Law firms • Can review, interpret, and preset datasets for management information packs (strong Excel; PowerPoint and Officer365 skills). • Training (online) & Development, allocation and utilization of Associate resources. • Demonstrates the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines. • Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication skills.
