Opportunity Barks, a dog daycare/boarding facility located in Pleasant Hill, is looking to add a new part-time employee to our staff (18+ only, please)! The ideal candidates of course have a love of dogs, coupled with a strong work ethic and the ability to keep a clear head under pressure. We┬ĺre looking for dedicated people who enjoy a fun, unconventional work environment with lots of time spent outdoors! Also people who understand that taking care of living creatures is a large responsibility, and requires a lot of dedication and maturity. Responsibilities Include: ┬Ľ Handling large groups of dogs of all shapes and sizes while exercising extreme patience and vigilance. The dogs definitely keep you on your toes, so alertness is a must! ┬Ľ Cleaning. Picking up dog messes, hosing off muddy dogs, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes....dogs are adorable, but they will go out of their way to make a mess! ┬Ľ Frequent customer interaction: greeting clients during drop-off and pick-up, and answering clients' questions, both in person and over the phone, as needed ┬Ľ Miscellaneous: Preparing meals, setting up suites and crates for breaks, enrichment activities, petting/cuddling dogs... Right now our workday is split into 2 shifts: the morning shift is from 7:00am to 12:00pm and the afternoon shift is from 3:00pm - 6:30pm, and everyone has to work two split shifts (meaning one morning and one afternoon on the same day). But we are looking to get away from split shifts, and when we hire enough people, we can move to single shifts! The new single shifts would go from either 6:30am to 12:30pm, or 2:30pm to 8:30pm. Since we┬ĺve always done split shifts, this will be an unprecedented change for us, so we┬ĺre looking for patient people who don┬ĺt mind being at the ground level for something new :) Interested candidates must be okay with working one weekend shift a week and also holidays, as they are extremely busy times for us. We're working on solidifying the schedule, so interested applicants will need to have fairly open/flexible availability. The position will be around 25-30 hours per week and pays $15/hour. In order to get a hands-on understanding of our work environment, after the initial interview we have potential employees shadow both a morning and afternoon playgroup shift for a couple of hours. This will not only give you a good idea of how we operate, but also to determine if it┬ĺs a good fit for everyone! Previous dog experience is preferred; however, a strong work ethic is much more important than related experience, so hard workers are encouraged to apply.
