Join Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DEE) as a Media Engineer II, where you will play a crucial role in transforming the capability and flexibility of how Disney acquires, produces, and distributes content worldwide. As a key member of our Engineering Services team, you will ensure the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and resiliency in our media technology systems.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Media Engineer II to focus on the sustainability of our existing technology, working on system integration projects, documentation, and preventative engineering. As a Media Engineer II, you will respond to and resolve technical issues, conduct diagnostic testing, and perform repairs and replacements to ensure smooth production, broadcast, and content distribution across multiple DEE networks.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Respond to and resolve technical issues affecting production, broadcast, and content distribution
  • Conduct diagnostic testing, repair, and replacement activities to solve routine, specialized, and complex problems
  • Utilize system health and performance monitoring software and platforms to troubleshoot and repair system problems
  • Analyze and troubleshoot streaming audio/video signals, cloud platforms, and media systems
  • Manage third-party service providers and enforce service agreements
  • Specify and procure equipment, supplies, and materials for media technology systems
  • Develop long-range plans for future media technology needs and capital improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent major
  • 3+ years of experience in ensuring efficient sustainment, uptime, and stability of live media production and distribution environments
  • Proficient with technologies like microservices, DevOps tools, SMPTE standards, and cloud-based infrastructure platforms
  • Scripting proficiency in Python, NodeJS, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Knowledge and experience with major media systems, compression techniques, and Evertz software control systems
