[Remote] Director of Accounting

They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Accounting to lead their accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial records, and provide strategic financial insights.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and guide daily accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all relevant regulations
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient internal controls
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to management on key performance indicators and trends
• Oversee the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant guidance
• Review customer contracts and assess proper revenue recognition treatment
• Work closely with sales and legal teams to address revenue recognition matters
• Oversee and manage the annual financial audit and income tax preparation processes
• Oversee audit schedules and support internal audits
• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements
• Cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team environment
• Effectively delegate tasks and monitor team performance
• Mentor and develop the team, preparing them for future growth within the organization
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Stay abreast of best practices in accounting and technology
• Proactively seek out opportunities to improve and scale financial systems and processes in anticipation of future growth and the transition to the Controller role

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership role
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• GAAP expertise
• In-depth understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606)
• Experience with NetSuite is required
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proactive and solutions-oriented approach
