[Remote] Senior Accountant with Supervisory Duties

They are seeking a Senior Accountant with Supervisory Duties to onboard new clients, oversee staff accountants, perform client accounting services, and assist with income tax preparation. The role is remote and full-time, with opportunities for advancement within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • CLIENT ONBOARDING: Onboard new clients by providing initial services
  • Perform an initial analysis of the account, including but not limited to the general ledger, reconciliations, and/or tax returns to determine the scope of work necessary to achieve the agreed-upon services
  • Communicate to clients about what is necessary to achieve the desired outcome
  • Provide initial work on the account
  • Oversee the transfer of provided services to the selected staff, when assigned
  • STAFF OVERSIGHT: Review work performed by staff accountants
  • Review work performed by staff accountants (3-4 full-time equivalents)
  • Provide staff with effective action plans to correct errors and deficiencies, while improving efficiency
  • Provide adequate follow-up reviews to insure action plans are completed timely and correctly
  • Communicate with supervisor staff performance and client impact
  • Orient new accountants to the firm and their assigned clients
  • CLIENT ACCOUNTING: Perform client accounting services as directed
  • Perform remote accounting services as assigned
  • File source documents and workpapers for work completed
  • Complete checklists and other internal documentation related to workflows
  • Communicate with clients regarding missing items and client requests
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding outstanding questions and issues related to work tasks assigned
  • Communicate with clients to optimize the accounting process in ways that save time and create efficiencies, while strengthening client relations with the firm
  • Communicate with supervisor suggestions to better serve clients’ needs and increase firm efficiencies
  • CLIENT TAX RELATED WORK: Perform income tax-related preparation
  • Ensure that client accounting is ready for income tax preparation
  • Work with supervisor to assign income tax preparation to appropriate staff, including self
  • Assist the supervisor in the review of income tax forms prior to filing
  • ADMINISTRATION: Effectively participate with the team
  • Complete daily time tracking through firm billing software
  • Maintain an appropriate billable time ratio
  • Participate in remote staff meetings/training
  • Communicate with supervisor to expediate firm procedures and client workflow

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA a plus for additional compensation
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or reviewing the work of other accounting professionals. (3-4 full-time equivalents)
  • Able to onboard clients
  • Expert knowledge of income tax planning, account clean-up, and income tax preparation
  • Efficient in specialty software used by the firm
  • Can work independently and remotely
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-accounting stakeholders
  • 10 years of practical accounting
  • 5 years of income tax planning and preparation
  • 3 years of supervision of staff accountants
