[Remote] Staff Accountant
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. EWC Growth is seeking a Staff Accountant to oversee core accounting functions and maintain strong internal controls across its operations. The role involves financial reporting, multi-unit accounting, compliance, and process improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review daily, monthly, and annual journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances between actual and budgeted performance
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage accounting activities for multiple center locations, ensuring consistent accounting treatment across all stores
- Review store-level cash, credit card settlements, and other revenue transactions
- Support new store openings, store relocations, and store closures from an accounting perspective
- Analyze store profitability and operational performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting and retail operations
- Support external audits, tax filings, and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Assist with sales tax compliance and multi-state reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting efficiency
- Participate in ERP, POS, and financial systems enhancements and implementations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with human resources, operations, and sales teams
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced proficiency with pivot tables and v-lookups
- Experience with Rippling, NetSuite, and other business management platforms
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
